Alkynes

Alkynes are chemical compounds which consist only of hydrogen and carbon atoms and are bonded exclusively by triple bonds. 

 Chemical formula: Cn H2n-2

 Suffix: -yne

 Prefix: Hydrocarbon's prefixes

 Properties:
  - Their melting and boiling points increase with the molar weight.
  - They are less polar.
  - Insoluble in water

 Characteristics:
  - Are unsaturated hydrocarbons.
  - Triple covalent bond.

 Simplest alkane: Ethyne.
